🐶 Ever wonder where the best ideas come from? Sometimes, it’s just a walk in the park. Literally.

🐶 Ever wonder where the best ideas come from? Sometimes, it’s just a walk in the park. Literally.

Meet Sam Peet, the founder behind PeeTGuard.

The inspiration for revolutionising UK street infrastructure didn't happen in a corporate boardroom. It happened during Sam’s daily walks with her French bulldogs.

While out on the daily route, Sam noticed a simple, unavoidable truth: dogs naturally target lamp posts. But what seems like harmless canine behaviour actually hides a massive, expensive problem for our local councils.

Constant exposure to dog urine accelerates corrosion at the base of metal streetlights. Over time, this leads to structural degradation, safety hazards, and hefty maintenance bills for local authorities—who traditionally rely on expensive, carbon-heavy bitumen treatments to try and halt the damage.

Sam realised there had to be a better way. If we can't stop the dogs, we have to protect the posts.

That 'aha' moment sparked the creation of PeeTGuard—an innovative, sustainable protective collar that shields lamp posts at their most vulnerable point.

Instead of treating the damage after the fact with heavy machinery and toxic materials, PeeTGuard prevents it altogether.

šŸ’” The result? A massive shift in how we maintain the UK's 5.6 million streetlights. By switching to PeeTGuard, local authorities can save roughly Ā£150 per asset, drastically reduce their maintenance carbon footprint by up to 22 kg of CO2e per column, and extend the lifespan of critical public infrastructure.

Innovation doesn't always have to be a high-tech software platform. Sometimes, it’s a brilliant, practical solution born from walking the dogs and paying attention to the world around you.
